The other day I Fox 2 News called and wanted to do a news segment on our mouth guards. Needless to say it was both exciting and flattering. The assumption that using a soft mouth guard will cushion the teeth and protect them from damage at impact has not been proven scientifically. Sure, it may feel like your teeth are protected, but really they’re not. Instead it is much more important to transfer the impact to the teeth ALONG the mouthpiece. A soft material can’t do that. However, a hard material with the right components can absolutely do that.
