Akervall Technologies Inc. (ATI), a leader in mouthguard manufacturing, announces a major leadership transition. Sassa Akervall, the visionary behind ATI’s success, will step down as Chief Executive Officer to become Chairman of the Board.
Sassa Akervall, an inspiring entrepreneur with a background in media and advertising, co-founded ATI with her husband, Dr. Jan Akervall, MD, PhD, the company’s President and Chief Medical Officer. Her leadership transformed ATI into a powerhouse in the dental protection sector, with the acclaimed SISU sports mouthguard becoming a global sensation.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sassa Akervall’s leadership shone brightly. As global sports activities halted, ATI faced dwindling orders for mouthguards. However, under Sassa’s direction, the company swiftly pivoted to produce life-saving face shields, safeguarding healthcare workers and ensuring job security for the local community.
In her new role as Chairman of the Board, Sassa Akervall will continue to steer ATI’s strategic vision, drive innovation, and champion community welfare. Dr. Jan Akervall will assume additional responsibilities as interim CEO during the transition.
